Culture is one of the first casualties of large-scale conflict. Radio stations, bakeries, books, music, journalists -- these are first targets of war. They are the "canaries in the coal mine" of what is to come.
MAP Talent identifies and collaborates with established media and arts professionals who are from or work in places where freedoms of expression are limited, creativity is under threat, and hate speech pervades. MAP Academy trains people and organizations on how to use creative communication tools to generate lasting socio-political change. Through this work, MAP protects and amplifies cultural assets ranging from performing arts, visual arts, multimedia, peace journalism, and literature by supporting the people who create these works and strive for more equitable, just societies. |
